The architect and civilian engineer, José Lecticio Salcines (1889-1974), owed his fame to an unfinished altruistic project, and not to "La Fama", a sculpture on the dome of the palace that he built for his family at the end of the second decade of last century.

There is a place in Guantanamo city that keeps secrets of local history: a park. Its benches could reveal lovers confessions or children’s mischiefs, while a centennial ceiba tree would speak about the most transcendental events from old times.
There is a very peculiar mountain situated in the northern region of Guantanamo, the most eastern province of Cuba. This elevation is known as El Yunque de Baracoa. It is a plateau surrounded by exhorbitant vegetation, just at 10 kilometers away from the municipal city of Baracoa. This mountain is at 560 meters above the sea level.
